How many people

As I sit on my glorious deck, basking in all that is green and leafy, whilst drinking a pomegranate mojito, the sounds of birds twittering to each other...I also have visions of Brian and Benjamin setting up tents playing with stakes and tarps. Seriously. They haven't mastered tent building together.

Mom to the rescue. Mind you, I did not float in on my white horse and instantly save the day. Oh no, it took a try or 2, but we got it figured out, and the tent is upright. Yay us!

As I was returning up the desk stairs to resume my place on my chair to continue basking in my bougenvillia and Stewie the cactus as well as my awesome tomato plants...Benjamin proposed the question:

"How many people does it take to set up a 3 room tent?"

To which I responded:

"One mom."

Ahhhh, mojito!!

As if

As if today, and yesterday, and most days since March 31st haven't been trying enough.

I was cleaning out one of the drawers in our message center. I found some interesting treasures in there. One was a catalog of fine art from one of our favorite artists. We'd been saving it for Christian to browse through. He loves looking at the catalogs. Hard to do when it is sitting at the bottom of a drawer covered by phone books. 6 phone books mind you. Into recycling they went. I was saving them for the coupons, hard to use when they are covered by old check stub books. Yep, boxed those up too!

Many people have junk drawers. Not me. I know what you're thinking. Jodie, you aren't organized enough to not have a junk drawer. And that is true. Very true. However, I know that a junk drawer for me would be dangerous, disastrous even so I don't have one. I have 2. HA! Kidding. I don't have one. Really. In fact, the drawers in our message center could even stand to hold a few more things. In my attempt to not over crowd them, I am under utilizing them.

However, I must add that while I don't have a catch all junk drawer, I do have a catch all paper drawer. You know the misc papers that don't really have a home. Not a bill, not junk, not a report card or spelling test....things that don't have a specific home. They go into the drawer. And then, I purge.

Today during my purge, I found a card.

Instant tears.

The card I bought for my dad for father's day last year. Somehow, it didn't get to him.

It has a home now. Not at the bottom of the drawer, not in the recycling.

I miss you dad.

Ok, so I'm technically on my break, and the office is empty, but I still feel like I am being sneaky by blogging.

FB status today.

Dear people I love,

Thank you.

That goes for the bloggy people I love too.

Thank you.

Support is awesome, I know He is with me. The reminders that He never left are helpful.

Thank you.

PS: I don't like that the ladies listen to country music in the office. Sigh....

Even the deer

We sang Amazing Grace at dad's funeral.

We sang Amazing Grace this morning at church.

It was chilly and it rained and thundered during dad's funeral.

It was hot humid and sunny today.

We were relieved to know that dad was not in pain, and we celebrated his new life with our Savior the day of his funeral.

We spread dad's ashes today.

All of us. The kids and Brian spread handfuls, dad's brothers spread handfuls, my sisters and I emptied our was emotional.

The butterflies flew over head, the sun was shining, the water gurgled around our feet as we stood staggered out in the water, and the birds were singing. Even dad's deer were there. We saw them as we walked to the water. They wanted to say goodbye too.

He's been brought to his final resting place.

Today bittersweet.

I miss him.

WHERE have you BEEN?!

Yea, yea, I've been missing. Even B has been asking "Uh, honey, are you going to blog tonight?" As he heads off to bed to begin snoring while I think about the dishes in the sink but remain too tired to do them myself. So I go to bed.

No time for blogging.

I've been all over the place the last few weeks. Not to mention I'm working now. I know-- crazy right?

I've lost track of all my bloggy friends. Sorry ladies, I love you and can't wait to catch up with you all! Summer is here...lets GET TOGETHER!

I am barely keeping tabs of my townie friends.

I'm not even on FB as much as I used to be.

See how serious this is?!

No time for blogging.

But then. I came across the best fluff reading (I wonder what she'd say if she knew I said her writing was fluff) ever!

You're welcome.
