Edible PlayDoh

The boys and I made edible playdoh this week and spent a great deal of time making one thing after another. One of the things Benjamin made was a pizza, complete with several toppings. Christian made an Elvis head. He even got the Elvis hair curl, it looked great! Christian and I got the recipe from Kate Gosselin, mother of sextuplets AND twins.
The recipe is: equal parts Honey, Peanut Butter and Powdered Milk...and some flour added gradually to take away the stickiness. After putting the ingredients in the bowl the boys got to it and got their hands dirty...literally! They squished and squashed it all together, then ate it off their hands.
It was a great evening activity for them while I made dinner, plus it eliminated the dozen trips into the kitchen asking if they could have a snack! Now it is in the fridge for another day.

Spring break for the boys starts this week, we aren't going anywhere, but it will be nice for them to have some down time. Of course, classes for me start up again on Monday...so I'm right back at it! This quarter will be much more interesting than last so I'm really looking forward to it.

Easter Sunday

Today is Easter, and there is way too much snow on the ground! To make it a little more interesting, instead of a traditional egg hunt, we did a scavenger hunt today. I made up individual riddles and rhymes for the boys to follow through the house from one prize to another. The first clue took them to their Easter baskets, then on to a treat and so on. Since they had their own clues, they were all over the house, upstairs, then main, then down, then back up! It was fun to watch them running all over, and they were so excited when they figured out their clues! After the egg hunt the boys went with Chad for the afternoon, and Brian and I went to church. The music today was incredible! It really was a great beginning to our day. When we came home we made some easy but fun Spring dishes for lunch then watched The Passion. Each year we watch this movie near or on Easter Sunday...it helps us remember what He did for us and it really humbles us both. Now Brian is taking a snooze while we wait for the boys to come home....A wonderfully relaxing day before the extremely hectic week ahead. This is just the calm before the storm, so I will enjoy every moment.

Big update ahead!

It has been a busy busy week here, and it is only Wednesday! First of all...
I just finished my last final!!! Whew!!! I don't think my breathing has returned to normal yet. I think I held my breath during the whole thing! This class has been a pain in my butt since it started, and I am GRATEFUL that I won't need to think about it anymore. The boys are so good about stepping back during final week. They know that mom is a little preoccupied when my head is spinning with legaleeze. I should tell them I have "finals" more often, they even get along better! I am glad this quarter is over, and I am really looking forward to having a little time off from studying!

Today they met a friend in the new neighborhood. Now that the weather is warming up, they can play outside and meet some new faces! In our old neighborhood many of the kids were Benjamin's age or older, which wasn't great for Christian. Fortunately, this boy is 8 just like Christian so we are off to a good start. Several of Benjamin's football teammates live in this area, so he is excited to get out and play.

Monday was our anniversary, we tried to take some pictures but could NOT get any with Brian's eyes open. After the first flash, his eyes almost never stay open for future pictures! Thats why so many of our "good" ones are with sunglasses on! Dinner and drinks at yummy HuHot and some Easter shopping at the mall rounded out this anniversary. It was nice to be together and catch up with each other. We both have been so busy this past week, it was nice to reconnect. I even got him to Ladies Night at the Design Studio on Tuesday night. Another fun evening together, and the food was great! He told me next time I need to go with ladies. So I'll be calling some of you when the next one rolls around. There were vendors, and massages, appetizers and of course, wine. The Design Studio even had a bargain room with some super deals.
Well, thats our week so far, I think I am going to take a break from the computer for awhile. No class=no studying= no laptop. I hope to see some of you over the Easter weekend, but for those of you I don't see, have a terrific holiday!

Family fun

Tonight was another fabulous Lincoln event at the Y. Our social committee organized several different activities for the younger students (K-3) to do. Swimming, dancing, dodgeball, pizza and many smaller activities in one of the gyms. Brian and Benjamin stayed home to work on Benjamin's skateboard while Christian took part in the festivities. I volunteered (of course) and had a lot of fun! I met a new dad who may be able to help me on my Lincoln go Green mission. It was a nice use of networking time! My little group is growing, in no time Lincoln should be much more Eco-Friendly!

Its finals week....THANK GOODNESS!!! I need some time off! I've decided to change the direction of my degree, I will no longer be in the Paralegal program. Instead as of Spring Quarter I will be in a business degree program. I decided that my long term goal would not be met as well with the Paralegal degree as it would with a more broad focus. I'm torn between helping save our environment, or get involved with Commercial Real Estate. At least with this degree I can choose later which area I want to spend my career in.

Christian wanted to experiment with the clementine! If you squeeze the fruit enough, you can really drink the juice!

Horton Hears a Who

Tonight 3 of us went to Horton Hears a Who. Benjamin is spending the night at a friend's house, so Brian and I took Christian to the movie. It was super cute...not a favorite...but definitely a cute kids movie. I felt a little tired during the movie, and for the first time in my life I almost fell alseep in a movie theater! I guess I'm not 100% yet!

I'm trying new angles and ideas with photography, this is just an example. We'll see how creative I can be in the future.

Our NEW Family Webpage

Our original page was a little too difficult to maintain, so we are going to try this one. We found this one through another family and we were impressed with how nice it looked, so here goes! I hope to keep this updated so we can all keep in touch a little better!
