Oh that door....

When we moved into this house, we knew the knob to our bedroom door was broken. Solution (until now) don't shut the door. Easy right? Not for Benjamin. Tonight he shut the door, with Christian on the other side!! After turning, tugging, and prying the doorknob, it came out of the door, but the door still wouldn't open. My plan B-break door down! Brian had a different plan B. Maybe if we slide a hammer and big sturdy nail under the door, Christian can take the hinges out....YEP! That did the trick. Christian is free!! It looks like we will be getting a new door knob tomorrow, I can only imagine what would have happened if no one had been in there!

YEA for Mother Nature!!

Let there be Spring! Finally!! Saturday was Christian's first soccer game, in which he scored 2 goals! One was a fun slide kick, he looked so pro! I forgot my camera, so I didn't capture any great shots, but I will be sure to bring it to his next game. This year is going to be exciting, he is off to a great start, his coach is a friend of ours from Lincoln, we are looking forward to a fun season.
Benjamin began his baseball tryouts today. He will have tryouts Tuesday and Wednesday too. He was pretty nervous going into the them, but I think after getting out there and seeing what it was like, his nerves calmed a little. I was able to watch a little of it, and he was doing really well. We will see what the next 2 tryouts bring.
I have taken some time off this week to catch up with ME! I needed to have some me time, and today was the start. I got to visit with Tahnee, Norah, and sweet Marlee this morning, which was like a trip down memory lane. To make it better she sent me home with some snips of plants for the new house!
With this time off from work comes the opportunity to enjoy some of this weather...

Today is so windy!! It is also Christian's first day of soccer...I'm not really sure how well those 2 factors will work together? It has been 3 months since tennis ended so we are looking forward to have him involved in something other than Scouts.

This week has started off perfectly with me subbing at Lincoln yesterday and volunteering all day today. Gratefully I get to sub 3 days this week, and with my 1 day of volunteering that puts me in the school all but Thursday. I wouldn't want it any other way! Any time I can have at their school is a treasure to me...and its even better when I can get paid to be there!

After being at the school all day today I didn't think it could get any better..but it did! When I came home I was greeted with the most glorious sight in the front yard! FLOWERS!!! Could it be true? Could Spring really be here? All the work that Brian and the boys put into the front yard is paying off. They were peeking their way through last years mulch...just as God intended! It felt so good to see them coming up, I ran straight inside and got my camera.

This past weekend Brian and I went to dinner at 300 First with the Robelias. We had such a good time, the meal was terrific, the smoking martinis were fun, and the conversation was perfect. After picking up the kids and bringing them to Chad's we went to Chesters to meet another couple for drinks. Another restaurant we had not yet tried. I am loving some of the new restaurants that are coming to Rochester. The next one to try out is Sushi Itto. That is on the agenda for the next Parent's Night Out.

Its been a great day so I give my thanks... I am blessed and happy, ain't life grand?

No more snow!!

I just want it to be Spring!! Brian and the boys worked hard in the yard last weekend, and I am so excited to see what fun flowers will be growing in the gardens of the new house! But I can't see them if they are covered in snow. I really don't want to engage in another conversation where a stranger just smashes my hopes of Spring with news of more snow. I just want to move on from winter.....

Last Thursday night I got a surprise phone call from the boys' principal. It turns out, Benjamin had earned a last minute incentive trip to the Twins game on Friday night. They were in the luxury suite, catered food and drinks, and coach bus transportation. When we arrived at the school to drop Benjamin off, it turned out that there was an extra spot so Christian was able to go too! They had a terrific time, got their faces painted, and got home very late. They both told me that Mountain Dew was available to them, but they didn't drink it. Such good boys, until they said they had Pepsi instead (jeesh)...Christian even says he had 4!

While the boys were at the game, Brian and I went to his mom's birthday party in Wabasha. It was nice to see his family. We haven't seen many of them since Christmas, so it was good be with them again. This weekend is Parent's Night Out at our church. I think we are going to check out the new restaurant 300First. I'm really excited to eat there...I'm already hungry just thinking about it!

Spring Break sleepover

Tonight is the night of our Spring Break sleepover. Each year they have one since a week is WAY too long to go with out seeing their friends! So, there are 4 boys playing hide and seek, lazer tag, catch the cat and everything else they could think of that requires running through the house! Brian got out of the chaos and is in bed...we had a little health scare with him...but after 2 days of testing he is fine...tired, but not sick! I wonder what we will get to pay Mayo to know that he is healthy? It is a relief, both he and I have been praying the past week that we would have happy results, and we did!
This summer Brian is going to help an old college friend with his boat rentals at Silver Lake. The first day of the season is this Saturday. That must mean a shopping day for me! I've also thought that I would like to work on my knitting again. Its been a while since I picked up knitting needles, so maybe Sat will be a good day to get back at it.
School started Sunday and so far I really like my instructors. These classes are going to be a breath of fresh air compared to last quarter. I'm really excited to get further into the coursework. We'll see how I feel 3 weeks from now!
It is now time to get those boys into their sleeping bags and begin my sleepover "boys its time for bed" "boys go to sleep" "boys no more talking", routine. Here we go!!
