Bloggers

What do you get when you cross a computer, a love for Christ, a woman, and a beautiful MN park?

You get a MckPicnic of course!

We had a fantastic time meeting other women who share the same interest, and of course it was terrific to finally meet Jennifer in person. The boys were exhausted after a full week of camp and a night swimming in a hotel, so they zonked out in the car on the way home after the picnic, but we all had a wonderful time at the park playing, chatting and...well let's be real-- when you get a group of people who blog all in one place, you know that everything that goes on is bound to end up on someone's page. So while there was not literal blogging going on at the location, it was all being dreamed up in the minds of these creative ladies!

Brian got a chance to talk with Jennifer's husband who is just as soft spoken and kind as I had imagined. And he is quite funny...maybe even w/o trying!

What do you get when you cross delicious food, with charming women and fantastic conversation in a small MN town restaurant?

MckBrunch of course! Today was a follow up to yesterday's picnic. Not everyone who came today was there yesterday, and in fact I was able to sit and get to know several ladies who were not at the picnic yesterday and it was absolutely refreshing! Thank you Kami, and MckMama for gathering together a group of creative and faithful women for a morning of fellowship and food!

I even learned a few things this weekend.

1. I am not a blogger. I am a person who blogs. The women I met this weekend...THEY are bloggers! I absolutely understand the difference!

2. I CAN meet people, I CAN introduce myself and step out of my comfort zone in order to do so. Good thing too, I will probably need it the next 2 years as PPT President!

3. Waconia has an adorable restaurant that I am excited to take Brian to someday.

4. Jennifer is just as charming in person as she is in words. I feel blessed to have met so many faithful women today and I am truly looking forward to keeping in touch with many of them! I will enjoy reading their blogs, and perhaps even learning a thing or 2 along the way. For now, I will thank God for bringing us all together this weekend!

It was so fun to meet real people from the blog world! I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on the difference between a blogger and a person who blogs. Can you tell by visiting a blog or do you need to meet the person? Hmmm...thoughts to ponder.

Well, Heidi, that is a good question, and one that is a little hard to explain online...but I'll try! When I talked with some of the women, and later looked at their blogs, I realized I am not even on the same playing field! I'm little league in comparison!

There are some tricks and techniques that I think would be fun to use to jazz up my page, but I don't have the desire that some do when it comes to blogging.

I love to write, I love keeping a journal, and it is great for me to reflect on...but I don't know if I would ever get to (or try to) be on the level of some of the other bloggers! I admire the skill and patience and time that it takes, but I may have to leave it to the big dogs, and just be in awe of all the talent!

:)

I am so glad we had the chance to chat on Sunday! Next time you're up this way and you have some free time...let me know. Maybe we can get together with the kids. Or, if you need a partner in crime at Trader Joe's I'm always game. BTW...you are a nice lookin' fam!
